I'm honestly not much of an A7x fan but I've always liked this song and it's pretty fun to play, so I had a go at trying to get as close as possible to the tone.

experimenting with the HM-2 again. Trying to get a real thick and nasty tone.

This is definitely a much different clip than what I usually post.

What this is, is a little experiment. Real gear vs it's VST replicas.

I found a post by the guy who actually recorded Jade Puget's guitar for AFI's album Sing the Sorrow, and copied it as best I could with VSTs.

Jade's guitar tone is a mix of a modded Plexi and a Dual Rectifier, going through some Greenbacks, both amps mic'd with a Royer 121 and a U67. (4 mics in all, going to one track, then double tracked)

I took GR5's Hot Plex and stuck a Redwirez Marshall 4x12 greenback w/Royer 121, and LePou's Lecto, same Redwirez but mic'd with a U87 (not a 67). For each track, then double tracked.

I'm very surprised to how close the tone actually is to the album. It's not exact by any means but it's damn similar. Backing track is from the Rock Band .mogg file.

my friend on Ultimate-Guitar made a song in GuitarPro and asked me to record it for him, so I did.

then I added a wanky wah solo at the end haha.

Rhythm was done on channel 2, boosted with the SD-1.

borrowed an SD-1 from my friend.

I now know what I've been missing in my life. Boosts are great. It even makes R2 sound nice, but this is the lead channel boosted.

just some experimenting... trying to get a really droney and nasty tone with the HM-2, bordering fuzz, though still kind of articulate.

Funny, this clip started out as me seeing how fast I could alternate pick palm mutes while making a coherent riff. 170 seemed to be the line would I could stay on time without really messing up.

Anyway, SUPER generic riff. Kind of tone testing too, blended a Redwirez uberkab with the ASEM Recto cab.

strung up my guitar with some 12's and tuned to C standard before I go up to C#. Then decided to record the intro to In the Name of God by Dream Theater.
